Comprehensive Assessment

Neuropsychological Testing & Evaluation

Psychiatric evaluation with Dr. Malik, coordinated with formal cognitive and psychological testing by licensed psychologists, to understand how you think and learn and to guide treatment.

Understanding How Your Brain Works

Neuropsychological testing provides a comprehensive, objective picture of cognitive functioning—how you think, learn, remember, and process information. These assessments use standardized instruments with established reliability and validity to evaluate specific brain functions and their relationship to behavior and daily functioning.

Whether you're trying to understand learning difficulties, cognitive changes after illness or injury, or simply want a clearer picture of cognitive strengths and weaknesses, neuropsychological evaluation provides clinically meaningful insights that guide diagnosis and treatment planning.

How it works at CPOML. Dr. Aqsa M. Malik, MD, a triple board-certified psychiatrist, performs the psychiatric evaluation, makes the diagnosis, and prepares your clinical documentation. Formal neuropsychological, psychological, learning-disability, and processing testing is performed by licensed psychologists or neuropsychologists we refer to and coordinate with. Dr. Malik then reviews the results with you and builds them into your treatment plan. As our practice grows, we are welcoming additional psychiatrists and licensed therapists.

Standardized Assessment

The testing psychologist selects instruments to fit your questions. Testing may include current editions of well-established measures such as the Wechsler intelligence scales (WAIS-5, WISC-V) and continuous performance tests, with published normative data. Language, culture, and education are considered when interpreting results.

Cognitive Domains Testing Can Assess

  • Attention & Executive Function
Focus, sustained attention, working memory, planning, organization, impulse control, cognitive flexibility, and decision-making.
  • Memory & Learning
Immediate, delayed, and recognition memory; verbal and visual learning curves; and the difference between difficulty learning information and difficulty recalling it.
  • Language & Communication
Verbal comprehension, word retrieval, verbal fluency, reading, and writing abilities.
  • Visual-Spatial & Perceptual Skills
Visual perception, spatial reasoning, constructional abilities, and visual-motor integration.
  • Processing Speed
How quickly and efficiently information is processed and responses generated.
